2020 Spiritual Resolves

Can we stop living in the past?  Is it possible to release the old dead ways and look to Jesus to lead us through paths we have never walked before?  Will we be able to trust this new way of doing things in Him?

All these questions roll through us whenever the Lord asks us to change our ways.  We question whether we can do what he asks us to do.  As I prayed and meditated on how to release the past, the Lord reminded me that He was the “author and finisher” of my faith.  It is Holy Spirit who leads us into the truth.  So my choice for this new year is to resolve to allow Holy Spirit to change me.  It is not easy, but things worth while usually are not easy.  The rewards of hearing Jesus say, “Well done, thy good and faithful servant” are worth the battle with our flesh.

Hebrews 12:1-2 New King James Version (NKJV)

1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

John 16:13 New King James Version (NKJV)

13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
