“Faithful friends, like diamonds, withstand the test of time.”
While truisms are wonderfully thought provoking and sometimes funny, sometimes edgy, they are not really words to live by. Rather they are statements about life experiences. Those that last prove how many life experiences are share by multitudes of people. It would be a mistake to make at truism, even one as nice as the one above a philosophy or foundation for our lives. Truisms are too subjective. They are interpreted by whoever lives them.
A true and sound foundation is best laid by what our Maker says. He created us and knows what we need to live by. His Word, the Holy Bible is filled with life lessons and make a wonderful and sound foundation for living a fulfilled and blessed life.
What are your foundations built on? Solid rock or shifting sands of opinion and sayings? While I enjoy those wonderful truisms, I chose to make my foundation solid on the Word of God.

The battles we fight are spiritual not physical though it seems like they are sometimes. If we can put our trust in His Word, in the power of the Blood of Jesus and allow the Lord to do the behind-the-scenes part, the battle is shortened. Our part is to declare what the Word of God says about the situation. His part is to perform His Word.
A lot of us have been fighting a battle with sickness. Some of us are struggling and fighting in our minds and flesh. We are allowing worry and fear to attack our minds. Our battle is in the mind. The Word says in 2 Corintians 10:3-5; “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”
Sometimes we literally have to say to ourselves, “Stop thinking those thoughts. They are not of God.” Pulling down those thoughts that are contrary to what God says about the situation. Choosing instead to lift up His Word and cling strongly to it.
Psalms 107:20 “ He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”
3 John 2 “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”
Our prayer for you today is to allow the Word of God to fight the battle for you. Resist fear, worry and sickness in the Name of Jesus and allow Him to bring you sweet release in the Spirit of God.
In our Wednesday night adult class, we have been studying Abram. He became Abraham as a part of the covenant God made with him. Though he received a promise from God to bless him abundantly with children, it didn’t happen as quickly as he and Sarai thought it should.
They like most of us who are waiting on God’s provision, tried to help God out. They went around the promise and produced their own “child”. He was not the child of promise and their actions caused all kinds of problems for them. The same is true today when we chose to produce our “child of promise” instead of waiting on God.
How many of us have prayed for a car, house, job or other such thing, then because it did not instantly happen, chose to fix it ourselves. We borrowed money at too high a rate, picked the first car, house or job that seemed to look good, then spent years of regrets for not waiting. Also one big issue of not waiting, is when the promise is ready to be fulfilled, we are stuck in the self-made provision and sometimes cannot accept the promise as we are in debt to our ears or stuck in a dead-end job that requires two weeks notice. OUCH! Lots of us are Abram and Sarai at times.
Thank God for his mercy and grace extended to us. He will forgive us and provide for us when we place our faith on His provision. If we can learn to do so quickly and keep our own fingers out of it, the promise can come quicker. God proved himself to Abram and Sarai in providing the son of promise and in the covenant He made with them changed their names to Abraham-father of nations and Sarah-princess. He showed them one of his Names-El Shaddai; “The God who is more than enough” or “The All-Sufficient One”. He is still revealing himself by that name to all who are walking in faith for His provision.
